THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Incentives (vouchers or coupons) are a key commercial tool for Zalando. They are crucial for fostering ongoing customer engagement and loyalty, enabling successful commercial activities, and achieving financial goals. The Incentives domain bridges CX by ensuring seamless customer interaction with their voucher, UX by empowering commercial stakeholders to meet their objectives, and Optimization by developing algorithms for customer targeting and assortment selection to enhance voucher ROI.

As Principal Product Manager - Incentives, you will work with engineering, applied science, and analytics teams to build a sophisticated optimization product relying on both customer targeting and assortment selection, to improve the efficiency of our vouchers and the success of our commercial campaigns. In an agile development process, you will understand stakeholder needs, work with the engineering and applied science teams to come up with solutions, drive delivery and prioritise development. Ultimately, you’re the one responsible for delivering the right product, even if that means challenging existing processes. governance, and setups. As the key interface between Business, Engineering and Data Science, your decisions will impact the experience of millions of Zalando shoppers and have a direct and measurable impact on the bottom line of our business.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Create cutting-edge optimization products for vouchers, for millions of Zalando customers, over 300k items in 24+ countries 

  • Create and deliver against a long-term vision, identify and prioritize problems and solutions, build fact-based business cases 

  • Structure complex mathematical/economics topics into easy-to-understand messages and communicate effectively across all levels. Work with the team and stakeholders to develop and prioritize epics and user stories 

  • Lead the delivery with engineering, and data science teams in an agile development process

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • Product management experience on a lead/principal level, owning a long-term vision and roadmap, using a data-driven approach to identify problems and guide the implementation of solutions in line with the vision 

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand, analyze, and clearly communicate business problems and priorities to engineering teams and business stakeholders 

  • Very good understanding of econometrics, math, and statistics as well as Python/SQL skills 

  • Experience in operations research, data science, or machine learning 

  • Preferred Masters/PHD in economics or a science related field
