ABOUT ZALANDO PAYMENTS GMBH
Payments has been a key driver of Zalando’s customer satisfaction, growth and profitability almost from the very beginning. Zalando Payments GmbH (ZPS) provides more than 50 million customers across 25 European markets with an array of locally relevant purchasing options, as part of our broader convenience proposition. We help to drive deeper customer relationships through locally competitive payment options (20+ payment options, with a high share of our proprietary BNPL solution) that offer a seamless shopping experience for customers. For third party sellers on our platform, we offer flexible billing and payout solutions. ZPS was founded in 2016 and has a BAFIN-authorized eMoney license which is passported to all relevant European markets. Currently, the ZPS team consists of ~250 FTE in total and is led by our Managing Directors Kai-Uwe Mokros, Lea Siering, and David Schröder.
THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Location: role is based in Berlin, Germany (corporate headquarters, 2-3 days a week onsite presence required), also covering payment technology site in Dortmund, Germany (1-2x per month business travel required)
Team Size: ~90 FTE
This role is covering the following areas:
Engineering for the Core Payments Checkout Solution, our “Payment Engine” as well as Pre-Payments Processes, our “Risk Engine”
Technical Offering and Integration (inclusion of Zalando Partners in Zalando Payment Offerings)
Interfaces with Partners, different Payment Providers and Post Payment interdependencies
IT Security & IT Governance
The ideal candidate should have extensive leadership experience in payment, banking or broader sense financial services to meet also the suitability of the regulator (BAFIN).

EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
Min. 3 years Senior Leadership / Managing Director experience in a FinTech, Bank or Institutes authorized on payment transactions, regulated organization
Min. 8 years leadership experience, leading leaders and larger technology teams
Background in engineering, entrepreneurial mindset
Familiar with e-commerce market, brings an agile mindset and has ideally worked in a fast-paced, customer-oriented, international environment
Strategic Mindset, steering the business with Vision and Purpose
Professional and personal qualification according to BAFIN e-money license requirements (§12 Nr. 5 ZAG), in particular educational background, reliability checks, experience
English language is a must, German secondary
