THE ROLE & THE TEAM
At Partner Services, we are building and maintaining Zalando’s marketplace. Our platform comprises various services, empowering our partners to onboard, manage, and sell their products on the Zalando shop.
As a Backend Engineer, you will join the mission to define, own, and build the experience that enables our partners to succeed on our platform, creating a seamless experience that democratizes their access to the fashion market. You will be a key contributor to our core analytics platform, a critical tool we provide to partners to help them grow their business on the Zalando marketplace and measure their performance. This platform is central to Zalando's customer-centric approach, providing insights into key metrics that drive partner success.
You will collaborate with partners to understand their needs and develop solutions that enhance their selling choices. You will work with cross-functional teams to implement new features and processes that improve our partners' experience. This role involves working with large datasets and critical KPIs directly impacting GMV, requiring a strong understanding of data analysis and a commitment to accuracy. You will help position Zalando as the first choice for fashion partners looking to succeed in the industry and shape the future of fashion e-commerce.
WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Possess strong logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges and bottlenecks.
Design, develop, deploy, operate, and improve scalable software solutions impacting partner business.
Contribute to technology and tool decisions for cloud-based (AWS or Kubernetes) microservices.
Collaborate effectively within the team to achieve shared goals.
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
Strong computer science fundamentals and excellent problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in Scala or Kotlin (our preferred JVM technologies), with experience building developer productivity tools (Functional Programming a plus).
Solid background in developing large-scale, distributed applications, tools, systems, and services.
Familiarity with cloud architectures (AWS experience preferred) and PostgreSQL.
Expertise in architecture/design methods, data/API specifications, QA, and testing.
Understanding of event-driven systems and experience working with them (or willingness to learn).
