As a Senior Data Engineer in Zalando's Curated Sales Data team you design, develop, own and operate data pipelines that provides the single source of truth for information regarding Zalando's fundamental business process - Sales Orders and their lifecycle (Sales, Cancellation, Return, Refund) including the Key Performance Indicators for Zalando (Revenue, Profitability). Thousands of users and applications across the company rely on this data for business analytics and machine learning. WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Designing, developing, monitoring, and operating data pipelines processing hundreds of millions of records to provide high-quality data products for analytical and machine learning use-cases.
Leveraging and improving a cloud-based (AWS) tech stack that includes Databricks, Kubernetes, Spark, Python, and Scala.
Consulting with principal engineers, analysts and product managers to build and continuously improve "Single Source of Truth" data products that create value for their users.
Be a sparring partner to other team members and provide support and guidance to other engineers to help develop their technical capabilities.
You will be part of a community of 150+ Data Engineers across the company that is constantly improving the data landscape at Zalando.
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
You have a rich experience in all the steps of the data engineering process, including requirement gathering, designing, testing, continuous integration/continuous delivery, automated deployment and monitoring.
You have proficiency in leading decision making and driving simplification of a complex architecture and code environment continuously throughout the lifespan of our data products.
You have a strong set of modern (data) programming skills in Scala and proficient knowledge in working with Apache Spark on Databricks, Python is a plus
You have proficiency in Data Modelling for Data Warehousing concepts with the modern data stack
You have strong hands-on experience in cloud technologies (AWS preferred), container/orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Docker).
You have hands on experience with streaming applications in a data context
