Hello Ana, thank you for taking the time to talk with us and give us a little more insight into your career and current position at Zalando. Please tell us about yourself and your work.
I originally come from Ukraine and had been living in Frankfurt for a while before I started at Zalando in March 2019. Back then, I started as a warehouse temporary worker and my main goal was to master the German language. Through hard work and determination, I worked my way up internally, from cashier to the premium department. Then I worked as a cash specialist, and since May of this year, I’ve been leading my team as Team Lead Cash desk, and I’m really proud of that.
My time at Zalando has been an incredible journey of growth and self-discovery, both professionally and personally. It’s an honor to be part of a community that not only offers professional opportunities but also supports and fosters my personal development.
How would you describe your role? What are your weekly tasks?
As Team Lead Cash desk at Zalando, my role involves leading and coordinating the cash desk area, ensuring smooth operations at the cash registers, and supporting my team with questions and challenges. My weekly tasks include shift planning, conducting training sessions, and monitoring performance metrics.
What motivates you to do your job every day?
What motivates me is the opportunity to lead and support my team to achieve our goals. It makes me happy to see my team members develop and succeed. I also love the dynamics and challenges that come with my role as Team Lead.
What do you think are the main reasons talents are interested in your teams?
I believe talents are interested in my team, because we offer a positive and supportive work environment where personal growth and professional development are encouraged. We also offer exciting challenges and the opportunity to be part of an innovative company.
What tip would you give to others who want to do what you do?
My tip for others aiming for a similar role is to work hard, continuously develop, and always have a supportive and motivating team around you. It’s also important to have a positive attitude and be open to new challenges and opportunities.
How does diversity stand in your team?
In my team, we value diversity in all forms, whether it’s different ways of thinking, our languages, or backgrounds. This diversity enables us to interact with our customers in various ways and better understand their needs. Our ability to speak multiple languages helps us connect with customers and strengthen our relationships with them. Our common goal is to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued so we can succeed together.
What tip would you give someone in your team who has recently started or changed their career?
My tip for someone in my team who is new to their career or has changed career paths would be to be open to new experiences, ask questions, and learn from mistakes. Networking and finding mentors are also important for personal development.
