THE ROLE AND THE TEAM
Lounge by Zalando is an online shopping club for fashion and lifestyle products, serving millions of members across 20+ European markets. At the core of our high-growth strategy is pricing and assortment optimization. The Pricing & Buying Science mission within Lounge Tech is responsible for the algorithmic engines driving both Pricing and Buying at Lounge.
As the Principal Product Manager, you will lead the development and evolution of two products that each assign value to articles at Lounge: 1) the buying recommendation algorithm, which helps buyers determine what to buy and how much, and 2) the demand-based pricing algorithm, which balances maximizing the long-term value of articles with strategic commercial objectives. Working at the intersection of applied science, technology, and commercial teams, you will have a unique opportunity to directly contribute to a key pillar of Lounge’s future success and deliver measurable business impact.

  • Lead algorithmic discovery: Drive the discovery and validation of high-impact commercial decisions, translating complex business problems into clear algorithmic product requirements for applied science teams.

  • Own the roadmap: Take accountability for the end-to-end product vision and roadmap, driving alignment and prioritization across multiple stakeholder groups and technical workstreams to meet business objectives.

  • Foster cross-functional partnership: Build strong partnerships across commercial and technology teams, facilitating effective collaboration between applied science teams and business stakeholders.

  • Maintain strategic balance: Effectively balance short-term tactical wins with the execution of a long-term, high-impact product vision.

  • Drive holistic ecosystem integration: Shape and integrate the value produced by the buying and pricing algorithms more deeply into our business processes to ultimately streamline decision-making and maximize business impact.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF YOU HAVE…

  • 6+ years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of working successfully at the intersection of commercial and technology teams.

  • Strong foundation in product craft, including continuous product discovery, experimentation, and iterative development methodologies.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills paired with strong commercial acumen and a sharp ability to quantify business impact.

  • Superb technical translation skills, with a proven track record of breaking down complex technical or algorithmic concepts for non-technical business audiences.

  • Domain expertise in e-commerce or retail technology environments, meaning you can comfortably navigate fast-paced operational ecosystems.

  • Demonstrated leadership by influence, with experience leading and aligning cross-functional teams without direct authority.
