The Business Steering & Planning team is the strategic newsroom of the Business Operations & Steering unit. We are moving beyond standard reporting to true business steering, acting as the primary advisory body to the ZMS Management Team. Our mandate is to consolidate complex data into clear narratives, manage the company’s financial rhythm, and ensure that every decision is backed by robust planning.

We are looking for a Business Steering Analyst to join our engine room. In this role, you will be the guardian of our steering cadences, ensuring that our data is accurate, our insights are timely, and our reporting formats are always executive-ready. You will support the team in translating raw performance figures into the "Why" behind the numbers.

INCLUSIVE BY DESIGN

If you think you have what it takes, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every single requirement. You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles!

At Zalando, our vision is to be the leading pan-European ecosystem for fashion and lifestyle e-commerce – one that thrives on diversity and is truly inclusive by design. We believe that diverse teams fuel innovation and creativity, and we actively seek out talent from all backgrounds.

We actively seek to reduce bias in our hiring and employment processes, focusing on your qualifications, skills, and contributions. To support this, we kindly ask that you refrain from including personal details such as your photo, age, or marital status in your CV, ensuring a fair and equitable evaluation based solely on your abilities and potential.

We are committed to providing an exceptional and accessible candidate experience for everyone. If you require any accommodations to support you throughout the hiring process, please let us know – we are here to assist you.

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

  • Steering Operations: You own the operational preparation of our weekly and monthly steering formats. You ensure that the data pipeline is seamless and that our management decks are updated with precision, allowing the leadership team to focus on decision-making.

  • KPI Monitoring: You keep a pulse on our commercial performance, tracking key metrics across different business units. You are the first to spot trends or anomalies, flagging them to the Senior Analysts and Leads for further investigation.

  • Analytical Support: You perform ad-hoc deep dives to answer specific business questions. Whether it’s analyzing a specific customer segment or a regional performance dip, you provide the analytical grounding needed to understand the drivers of our business.

  • Data Quality & Excellence: You work closely with our BI partners to ensure the "single source of truth." You proactively identify data gaps and help refine our dashboards to make them more intuitive and action-oriented.

  • Process Optimization: You are always looking for ways to work smarter. You help automate manual reporting tasks and streamline our planning inputs to increase the team’s agility.

  • Collaborative Spirit: You act as a reliable point of contact for junior and mid-level stakeholders across the organization, helping them interpret performance data and align with our central steering logic.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Experience: You have a degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a quantitative field and have 2–4 years of professional experience in an analytical role (e.g., Junior/Mid Controlling, Business Analysis, or Sales Operations).

  • Technical Proficiency: You are a "Power User" in Excel or Google Sheets. You know how to handle large datasets efficiently and build clean, structured workbooks. Experience with SQL or visualization tools like Tableau is a significant advantage.

  • Attention to Detail: You have an uncompromising eye for accuracy. You understand that in business steering, a misplaced decimal point can change the entire narrative, and you take pride in delivering error-proof work.

  • Logical Thinking: You possess strong analytical problem-solving skills. You don’t just look at a chart; you look for the logic behind it and ask the right questions to get to the "so what."

  • Communication Skills: You can summarize your findings clearly and concisely. You are comfortable working in an international environment and can present data in a way that is easy for others to digest.

  • Growth Mindset: You are eager to learn and grow within the steering function. You are a team player who is ready to roll up your sleeves and contribute to a high-performing, fast-paced environment.
