Zalando Stores Experiences & Clearance Solutions is a retail-focused business unit, responsible for managing overstock from across the entire Zalando Group. We operate 16 (and counting) physical outlet stores across Germany, the Zalando Beauty Station in Berlin, and various other overstock channels. While retail is at the core of our operations, we increasingly collaborate on initiatives across the wider Zalando Group – expanding our scope and creating new data needs in the process. In recent years, we have strengthened and streamlined our BI landscape, putting in place cleaner data models, stronger governance, and more unified reporting.
As a Senior Software Engineer (all genders) you will join an autonomous, cross-functional team, lay and transform the technical foundation needed as we continue our growth. You will design, architect, and build mission-critical applications that improve and automate processes for different groups of stakeholders (Stores Management, Zalando Engineering Community, Outlets customers). Through collaboration with them, you will develop highly resilient software components in a microservice-based and event-driven system tailored for retail.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF...
You have 7+ years of engineering experience, ideally in a similar high-scale environment.
You bring deep expertise in Golang, Node.js, and TypeScript (React and Next.js are a strong plus).
You bring hands-on experience with distributed systems using Kubernetes, AWS, RabbitMQ, and Kafka.
You have strong experience with PostgreSQL.
You are a user-focused systems thinker who balances high-speed delivery with uncompromising quality.
You are highly organized and naturally approach every problem through a structured, architectural lens.
You are either already an expert in our tech stack or possess a high hunger to master it.
