THE ROLE & THE TEAM
You will be joining the Builder Infrastructure (BUILD) organization, a central function consisting of over 80 people. BUILD offers software development and machine learning platforms and services to make the job of every builder at Zalando easier and joyful. "Builders" include Software Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers, and Applied Scientists.
The BUILD organization consists of three departments: Builder Productivity, Reliability and Scalability, and Cloud Infrastructure, alongside a Tech Academy team. This role sits specifically within the Cloud Infrastructure department, a 27-person team led by the Head of Engineering. You will be part of the BUILD product management team alongside 3 Product Managers. Your closest customers and stakeholders will be the tech community of Zalando.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
You will set the right focus by defining product vision, strategy, and roadmap
You will engage with key stakeholders and users to establish a closer relationship.
You will collaborate with engineering teams to find creative solutions, such as GenAI integration into the platform offering to reduce the cognitive load on users.
You will define and report on meaningful success metrics to validate that we are leading our products on the right path
You will collaborate with engineering teams in the department to balance operational excellence and new capabilities which bring value to platform users.
You will introduce product methodologies to the teams’ ways of working.
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
You have 8+ years of product management experience.
You have 5+ years of experience specifically in technical product management.
Ideally, you have worked in Platform Engineering and possess a solid understanding of cloud technologies.
Your technical knowledge should cover container platforms, Event streaming services, Infrastructure as code (IaC), FinOps, Security, and Compliance.
You already have a good understanding of GenAI tools. You use them daily for your personal productivity and have creative ideas on how they can be leveraged for improving developer experience in platform engineering.
