THE ROLE & THE TEAM

The Business Finance Organization (BFO) Customer Propositions serves as a key business partner to Zalando's propositions. Its primary goal is to empower the Business-to-Consumer (“B2C”) leadership team with the insights needed to make well-informed decisions that foster long-term, profitable growth.

We are looking for a proactive Senior Finance Manager to play a key role in the sustainable and profitable growth of the Lounge Proposition within Zalando's B2C segment.

This pivotal position will drive the guidance on the seasonal buying plan for Spring Summer and Fall Winter cycles, providing final recommendation and key insights to both the Lounge and the B2C Customer Propositions leadership team. The key responsibilities include: delivering a comprehensive guidance of the main KPIs and underlying drivers influencing Lounge buying plan development as part of the overall B2C seasonal planning. This role is also responsible for the planning, forecasting and reporting of the Lounge inventory value.

In this position, you will contribute to its success by connecting business and financial KPIs to offer data-driven recommendations to business leaders in terms of supply management, standardizing business processes and bringing inventory reporting to the next level to deliver greater financial transparency.

The candidate will bring strong financial and analytical skills combined with a detailed understanding of the P&L dynamics. The candidate will report to the BFO Lounge team Head, while working closely with both the Lounge and Central functional teams.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • You will be responsible for preparing and presenting the monthly global business and financial performance to the Lounge Leadership team. This includes a deep dive into global performance, with a focus on analyzing key drivers across different functions (e.g., commercial, marketing, supply and fulfillment costs). Your analysis and insights will be highly relevant for informing senior management decisions and will also serve as vital input for Group reporting (monthly).

  • You will deliver a comprehensive view of the main drivers influencing Lounge gross margin development as part of the overall Business-To-Consumer reporting as part of the Lounge P&L closing - reporting (monthly) and planning (twice a year) . You’ll increase transparency regarding the risks and opportunities connected to Gross Margin planning and forecasting. In this case, your insights will be shared in the planning memo reported to the B2C leadership team.

  • You will manage the reporting and planning of the Lounge inventory value, and participate in Business-To-Consumer initiatives to optimise its inventory management, as part of the Group Net Working Capital review. Ensure thorough financial analysis to guide decision-making, striving for continuous improvement of financial tools for better and faster decision-making.

  • You create detailed reports, track KPIs, and model solutions to derive actionable insights from data. You utilise your passion for data analysis to drive recommendations that support business objectives.

  • You maintain a hands-on mindset, readily supporting your team with ad-hoc requests and addressing business cases from stakeholders.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You hold a degree (Bachelor, Master, MBA) in Economics, Business Administration or any related field

  • You come with 5+ years of experience in Finance, E-Commerce or in an analytical business role

  • You have strong analytical skills, dive deep into numbers where needed while at the same time connect the dots and get exposure to the big picture

  • You have previous experience in auditing, or in a Financial, Planning and Analysis department; you have a very good understanding of accounting principles and master P&L mechanisms.

  • You have great analytical skills to deliver a strong data-driven performance: You are an expert in MS Excel and Google Workspace. SAP, SQL and Tableau skills are a plus

  • You are looking to work in a fast-paced environment between trading and finance

  • You come with a proactive and curious mindset, hands on and eager to continuously learn and improve with an ability to solve problems quickly and in a structured manner

  • You convince with your excellent communication skills and are comfortable to connect with stakeholders to understand business needs and to share your view to colleagues on the basis of concepts and facts

  • You have an excellent command of verbal and written communication skills in English
