ABOUT THE ROLE & THE TEAM

 

The Category Strategy & GTM team, in collaboration with cross-functional teams, shares commercial ownership of a specific part of the business.

This team has two key responsibilities: (1) defining and translating category and sports-type strategies into actionable plans for individual execution, and (2) leading efforts to deliver an outstanding customer experience, transforming the Sports Proposition into a multi-specialist offering.

By utilising data-driven insights, the team makes informed decisions and works closely with other business functions to achieve commercial goals.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING) 

  • Category Strategy Leadership: Own, manage, and develop the Zalando Running strategy in collaboration with cross-functional leaders (Buying, Merchandising, Marketing).

  • Strategic Execution: Translate the overall Running strategy into actionable annual and seasonal plans for all functional teams and markets, driving the evolution toward a specialist running retailer.

  • Customer Expertise: Lead the development and management of Running customer profiles and insights and drive the optimization of on-site and off-site search strategies.

  • Go-To-Market (GTM) Execution: Lead and implement Running GTM plans with key brand partners and markets, collaborating closely with Buying teams.

  • Calendar Management: Co-manage the Running customer calendar (including seasonal, commercial, brand, paid, and organic activities) with Marketing, Content, and ZMS teams, ensuring seamless execution.

  • Content & Experience Oversight: Serve as the main point of contact for Running, overseeing the execution of all content-related activities in alignment with the strategy and calendar.

  • Innovation & Excellence: Foster innovation in content and customer experiences, introducing new formats, placements, and entry points to deliver a specialist Running experience.

  • Assortment Coordination: Oversee the Running assortment and availability planning across all customer-facing content and marketing teams.

  • Market & Brand Alignment: Facilitate effective communication with Markets and provide insights on market share developments. Manage brand category mapping and ensure brand visibility aligns with paid investments.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in an e-commerce or relevant industry

  • You are a passionate and active runner e.g. participates in events such as marathons or half marathons, who is deeply connected to the community

  • You are very knowledgeable about running shoes e.g. racing shoes, cushioned models, max cushioning and what it means

  • You have entrepreneurial spirit - has a vision, challenges the status quo, and believes in something bigger than the day to day
