THE ROLE & THE TEAM
As a Principal Product Manager in Zalando Marketing Services (ZMS), you will shape the future of data and insights for Europe’s leading fashion & lifestyle advertising platform. You will own the partner-facing value proposition for campaign performance reporting and actionable insights, ensuring that brands of all sizes can easily measure, understand, and improve the impact of their advertising on Zalando.
You will operate in one of Europe’s largest retail media datasets, working across billions of campaign events and customer interactions. This role has a strong focus on collaborating with data engineering and analytics teams: you will be a key stakeholder in driving discussions on data architecture, modeling, pipelines, and tooling, ensuring that the foundations for campaign measurement and insights are robust, scalable, and future-proof.
The Data PM will identify the problems and opportunities of partner data consumers (external) and internal Zalando consumers (internal), working with cross-functional domain experts to frame the right problems, connect them with related opportunities across product domains, and design solutions that are scalable and extensible. A critical focus is to move away from bespoke, single-use solutions and towards reusable, modular data products—what we call “Functional Datasets.”
By building flexible data infrastructure and tools, the Data PM ensures that solutions are adaptable to diverse needs, evolve with changing requirements, and maximize resource efficiency. This approach not only fosters innovation and collaboration but also provides consistent and reliable access to insights, enabling both partners and internal teams to make better decisions.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Own campaign performance reporting across ZMS’s partner-facing interfaces and direct data-sharing solutions, making insights accessible for users with varying levels of data literacy and marketing expertise.
Turn data into action by evolving reporting from static metrics into recommendations, optimisation levers, and self-service capabilities that help partners improve live campaigns and design stronger future ones.
Lead collaboration with data teams, driving discussions with data engineers, data scientists, and analysts, aligning priorities to modernise data pipelines, accelerate implementation of new tracking concepts, support new ad formats, and enable measurement of emerging KPIs.
Strengthen data foundations by working with engineering partners to evolve data warehouses, APIs, and tooling to support ever-growing requirements for surfacing data and insights quickly, accurately, and at scale.
Drive governance and consistency by aligning KPI definitions, data quality standards, and reporting frameworks across internal and external consumers, ensuring trust in the numbers.
Champion cross-domain integration by identifying opportunities to connect datasets and create shared, reliable platforms that power multiple features across ZMS products.
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
You have 8+ years of product management experience, with significant expertise in data products, analytics platforms, or advertising technology.
You are hands-on with data analysis—proficient in SQL and analytics tools to independently investigate datasets, uncover insights, and generate data-backed product recommendations.
You bring deep experience collaborating with data engineering teams—comfortable challenging assumptions, aligning roadmaps, and jointly defining solutions that balance technical feasibility with partner value.
You understand data architecture, pipelines, quality, governance, privacy regulations, APIs, and warehouses, and can negotiate trade-offs between business needs and engineering realities.
You thrive in environments with competing demands, turning complex and fragmented requirements into scalable, reusable solutions, and have a proven track record of leading cross-functional, multi-domain initiatives that align product, engineering, and commercial teams to deliver end-to-end outcomes.
You are passionate about data-driven decision making, and want to define how Zalando empowers its partners through insights and measurement. A passion for retail media or advertising is a big bonus.
