THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Join our Pricing & Invoicing team as a Full-Stack Software Engineer and help build the financial backbone of Zalando's B2B platform. You'll contribute to scalable services that process millions of transactions for our merchant partners, directly impacting business growth and partner satisfaction.

Working with Java, React, and cloud technologies, you'll develop reliable systems that handle complex pricing logic and integrate with SAP for seamless invoicing. This is your opportunity to grow your skills while working with cutting-edge technology in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

What Makes This Team Special: Our Pricing & Invoicing team sits at the intersection of technology and business strategy. We work closely with stakeholders across the organization, from finance and commercial teams to merchant partners, translating complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions. You'll collaborate directly with our commercial team to understand partner needs and implement pricing strategies that drive business growth. This role offers unique exposure to both technical challenges and business decision-making, where your contributions are visible and celebrated.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Software Development: Design, develop, deploy, operate, and improve scalable, accurate, and highly available software solutions (front-end and back-end) that have a direct impact on our daily business with our partners.

  • Quality & Mentorship: Continuously ship high-quality, testable, and reliable systems, and support others to do so through reviews and mentorship. Iteratively test features with stakeholders while keeping the big picture in mind.

  • Problem-Solving: Analysing user requirements and translating them into feasible technical solutions. Troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise during development or in production environments with support from senior software and principal engineers. 

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to deliver high-quality software solutions. You will work closely with Engineering Managers and Product Managers to align with our overall tech strategy and architecture.

  • Continuous Learning: Staying updated with the latest technologies, tools, and trends in software development. Continuously improving skills and sharing knowledge with team members.

  • Agile Development: Embracing Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban to iteratively plan, develop, and deliver software solutions. Actively participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • Backend Expertise: You're highly skilled in Java development with proven experience in Spring Boot, Spring Data, Hibernate, and JPA. You understand microservice architecture, REST services, and API design principles.

  • Frontend Proficiency: You have at least 2 years of professional frontend experience with strong skills in JavaScript (ES6+), React, TypeScript, and modern build tools like Webpack. You're comfortable with CSS/HTML and understand how frontend applications integrate with microservices.

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: You have solid experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and understand PostgreSQL databases. Familiarity with Kubernetes is a valuable bonus. Check our Tech Radar to see the technologies we use.

  • You have excellent communication skills, and are fluent in written and spoken English.
