The Content and Ad Economics team is dedicated to creating great customer experiences through advertising. Our mission is to build a fair and explainable visibility marketplace that optimises long-term value for both customers and brands. Handling millions of ad auctions daily, we develop innovative, scalable and value-creating products. We are a highly motivated, collaborative team with a strong bias for action.
As a Data Engineering Intern based in our Helsinki team, you will work in a cross-functional team with applied scientists, software & research engineers and product experts. You will work on improving data pipelines, which are used by algorithms matching customer preferences with the brand offerings and our platform. You will collaborate closely with experienced Data Engineers, gaining hands-on experience in building and operating big data workflows that process data from the millions of Zalando’s customers across all Europe.

As our data sources grow in volume and complexity, Zalando’s scaling presents a sheer amount of exciting real-world challenges our team tackles daily. Right now we’re focused on improving our Airflow workflows orchestration, increasing automation and reproducibility of our Databricks pipelines and ensuring top-notch data quality. As a Data Engineering Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience working on these challenges and we aim to make you a direct contributor to our stack. We want you to write code, solve problems and have a real impact, not just observing from the sidelines.

We value proactive, curious problem-solvers who are eager to learn and experiment with cutting-edge tools like Airflow and Databricks. Experience with Python and Git version control is essential. Paid internship starting in May 2025 with a duration of 6 months and a potential opportunity for a permanent full-time contract afterwards
