THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Are you passionate about driving operational excellence and strategic growth in last mile transportation at an immense scale? As the Team Lead Delivery Solutions (all genders), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the last-mile operations and carrier relationships across diverse European markets.

Overseeing a significant portion of Zalando’s standard deliveries and returns, and steering a substantial budget, you will act as the primary interface between CEP (Courier, Express, and Parcel) carriers and Zalando. You will lead a high-performing team of experts, championing key initiatives such as NPS improvements, network acceleration, sustainability, and cost reductions. By collaborating with a vast network of internal stakeholders—from Customer Care to Tech and Network Planning—you will ensure the successful delivery of our Logistics Strategy 2028 and redefine the customer experience.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Strategic Business Development: Formulate the vision and target picture for your assigned markets. Drive strategic planning efforts to optimize processes, reduce defects, and improve overall efficiency. Act as a key stakeholder and ultimate accountable owner for all projects impacting the Delivery Solutions team.
  • Drive Excellence in Operations: Ensure seamless execution of daily operations, balancing customer impact with financial performance. Manage budget coherence, capacity planning (including peaks), and continuously explore opportunities to drive out cost while maintaining superior delivery standards.
  • Elevate Supplier Relationships: Establish and maintain high-level, strategic relationships with carriers. Define the carrier portfolio strategy based on business needs, negotiate critical operational terms, and drive continuous progress through Quarterly Business Reviews. Act as the primary escalation path for complex operational challenges.
  • Lead and Empower Your Team: Lead, coordinate, and develop a team of logistics professionals. Define clear goals, foster individual and collective growth, manage succession planning, and ensure balanced workloads throughout the year in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Navigate a complex stakeholder matrix (including Customer Care, PEX, TMA, CEP Product, Markets, Warehouses, and Network Planning). Lead by example, inspiring a culture of inclusivity, innovation, and continuous improvement across all functions.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • Degree in Law, Economics, Computer Science or a comparable You bring 6+ years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or process management, with a proven track record in external partner and carrier management at scale.
  • You have demonstrated experience managing significant operational budgets and large-scale delivery networks, with an acute business and customer focus.
  • You are an inspiring leader with proven experience managing, developing, and coaching a diverse team, including handling performance management and succession planning.
  • You excel in data-driven decision-making and quantitative analysis, capable of transforming market intelligence and complex data into actionable strategic visions.
  • You communicate fluently in English (an additional European language is a plus) and have the ability to simplify complex information into clear, engaging narratives for high-level stakeholders.
