THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Fulfilment Core within Zalando builds and operates systems that are at the core of Zalando’s logistic strategy - ensuring speedy and precise delivery of every one of our customers’ 280+ million orders every year. As a Principal Product Manager in Fulfillment Planning, you will shape the core order orchestration product, which ensures the optimal match making between our customers demand and Zalando’s logistic resources, ensuring they are utilised efficiently. At the same time, you will enable clients from different propositions (B2C & B2B) to flexibly define trade-offs between the customer experiences they want to offer and their available logistic budget.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • You will be the product owner of Zalando’s core order fulfillment product, ensuring every single customer order is fulfilled quickly and on time, while ensuring an efficient utilisation of Zalando’s logistic resources and the overall logistic network health.
  • You will lead the development of the next generation of a highly advanced multi proposition order engine, driving already impactful outcomes to even higher precision and accuracy.
  • You own the product backlog and collaborate with a team of engineers and applied scientists as well as internal stakeholders in various Zalando departments - ensuring we spend our engineering resources to solve something that matters.
  • You ensure priorities are aligned during yearly operational planning as well on sprint level. 
  • You will lead the entire product development lifecycle from discovery to execution while collaborating with cross-functional teams ensuring measurable outcomes.
  • You play a key role in driving solutions that benefit everyone, by guiding thoughtful decision-making and balancing priorities. 
  • You are the go-to person for your product. You thrive for a deep understanding of customers’ needs, drive relevant research within the organisation and dive into large data sets to generate and validate your ideas.
  • You have very good communication and stakeholder management skills as well as the ability to manage projects with many dependencies.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You bring strong business acumen, attention to detail, and a passion for solving complex problems, using your analytical mindset to drive solutions with measurable impact and 
  • You can translate business needs into crystal clear product requirements in close collaboration with your engineering team. 
  • You have experience managing algorithmic and back end heavy products throughout their lifecycle and are skilled in balancing various phases of product development.
  • You can work independently with very little supervision, while building new platform capability within highly ambiguous problem spaces.
  • You have the talent of turning complex data into crisp, clear and decision ready artefact. 
  • You can independently retrieve data (via data tools or SQL) to drive informed, data-driven decisions to support product outcomes.
  • You understand basic statistical concepts and have experience with quantitative analysis methods and techniques.
  • You have experience with A/B testing and experimentation.
  • You have good verbal and written communication skills, ability to clearly communicate your ideas in simple language for a broad audience, including senior management, your teams, as well as operational stakeholders and colleagues from other tech orgs. Your written artefacts serve as best practice for the community and make use of various writing and visualisation techniques.
  • Experience in order fulfilment products, logistics, e-commerce and merchandise or supply chain planning is a must.
