THE ROLE & THE TEAM

As a Junior Sports Buyer, you are part of a high performing and target driven team.
Through your industry knowledge and passion for the cycling market you are creating new and innovative ways to connect with consumers whilst delivering strong results.

As the expert of the sport in the team, you will define and execute seasonal strategies, curate and develop your brand portfolio, and optimize the assortment mix. 

With full ownership of portfolio KPIs, you will build strong supplier partnerships and contribute directly to the unit’s overall strategy and long-term success.

You use your negotiation skills to deliver success to your unit and to meet the company’s growth plans. Combining your analytical skills, eye for trend and commercial acumen to serve the customer in the best possible ways.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

As the Junior Buyer for the Cycling category, you will play a key role in shaping the product assortment and driving the commercial success of the portfolio. Your responsibilities will include.

  • Owning and nurturing brand relationships, building long-term strategic partnerships that align with Zalando’s objectives.
     

  • Defining the seasonal strategy for your brands, including budget and assortment planning, in collaboration with the merchandising & Go-To-Market teams.
     

  • Proactively managing your portfolio by selecting & buying the right assortment. Including trend identification, brand portfolio management, & ensuring profitability.
     

  • Negotiating the best commercial terms and consistently advocating for Zalando’s best interest to support the Category and overall business strategy.
     

  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of your portfolio strategy.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF…

  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business or comparable field.
     

  • A deep passion and understanding of the cycling ecosystem.
     

  • At least 3 years of experience in Buying or Category Management, with a focus on the cycling space, or sports in general.
     

  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in MS Office/Google Suite.
     

  • An excellent strategic mindset, with the ability to translate strategic pillars and market developments into an effective and profitable assortment strategy.
     

  • Proven negotiation skills and the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
     

  • The ability to connect strategic plans with flawless executions, driving strong commercial results.
     

  • A proactive, quick-thinking, and adaptable approach to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You should be a team player who can also drive projects & business independently.
