The Role & The Team

Within our B2B/ZEOS business unit, we are responsible for developing critical services in the ZEOS shipping domain. Our teams create and manage solutions for shipping labels, essential documents, and shipment tracking, directly impacting our merchants' experience and success.

As an Engineering Manager for our Settlement & Financial Integration team, you will join us in Berlin to lead a team responsible for these core services. You will play a key part in enhancing our current systems and developing future initiatives, such as exposing new delivery options to ZEOS merchants. Working closely with the leadership team, you'll contribute to the high-level roadmap and help shape the future of a complex and interesting domain.

What We'd Love You to Do (And Love Doing)

  • Drive the technical vision for the team's services, acting as a solution driver for larger roadmap topics and a key sparring partner in technical discussions.

  • Mentor and develop your engineers, providing coaching, performance evaluations, and meaningful development opportunities to support their growth.

  • Manage an agile tech team, facilitating collaboration and decision-making while balancing autonomy with accountability. You'll challenge and improve the software development process and establish clear responsibilities.

  • Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to influence product strategy and market the work of the team.

  • Attract, onboard, and develop top talent to the team, supporting recruitment activities to make our team better, not just bigger.

We'd Love to Meet You If

  • You have around 1 to 2 years of experience leading a software development team, including coaching and steering the team.

  • You have a strong technical background with experience in RESTful API design and consumption.

  • You're experienced in development on the Java Virtual Machine (like Java or Scala) in cloud environments such as AWS.

  • You have experience monitoring and tracking system behavior and understand the responsibility of operating services in a production environment.

  • You have a good understanding of agile software development methodologies.

  • You possess a drive and passion for people's growth and have strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.

  • You build trust, avoid micromanagement, and bring a positive attitude when facing change.

  • Experience with the Java ecosystem is a nice-to-have.
