The Role and the Team
Data is a critical part of our product development process, and we are the chief advocates for its quality and usage. We are looking for a Principal Product Analyst to join our team, focusing on a variety of digital experiences for our customers, including our Gen AI product - Zalando Assistant. You will be instrumental in supporting our understanding of customer engagement and will be part of a cross-functional team that leverages data to directly influence product improvement and strategic direction. You'll work closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Applied Scientists, and Business Leaders to make data-driven decisions that shape the future of our customer experience. Specifically, you will be working to understand how customers are engaging with new AI backed product experiences on Zalando by diving deep into our data to deliver key insights to improve the product direction.
WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Contribute to sourcing and reconcile data from across the company to produce high-valuable data products for your and your stakeholders enablement
Analyze large, complex datasets to identify product opportunities, distilling findings into clear, relevant, and impactful insights.
Be a data explorer, educator, and partner in decision-making, challenging and contributing to product decisions based on your analyses.
Advise in the design of A/B tests or other quasi-experiments, analysing and deep-diving into the results to provide recommendations and identify further opportunities.
Define key metrics to measure product performance and customer behavior.
Design and develop scalable solutions for monitoring and reporting, ensuring they provide strategic clarity.
Define data requirements and support implementation for product launches and iteration.
Mentor analysts, foster collaboration with other teams, and actively share knowledge and expertise within Zalando’s analytics and science community.
Serve as an interface between data stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment, communication, and understanding of data products and analyses.
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF HAVE
Extensive hands-on experience in analytics or data science, with at least 8+ years in a data-intensive role, preferably in e-commerce or consumer tech.
Degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or equivalent experience.
Proficiency in SQL, working with large, complex datasets.
Competency in Python (or R) for data cleaning, manipulation, and analysis.
In-depth understanding of A/B testing, including test design, execution, and analysis.
Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain processes, choices, trade-offs, and insights to stakeholders across all levels of seniority and technical backgrounds.
A proactive, curious, and collaborative mindset, with the ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
