Zalando fulfills more than a hundred million customer orders every year and volumes are increasing. Fulfillment Core within Zalando builds and operates systems that are at the core of Zalando’s platform strategy and ensure timely, efficient, and correct delivery of every one of our customers’ 185+ million orders every year.

As a Working Student in the Fulfillment Network Layout domain, you'll gain experience in developing important services that manage info about our layout, capabilities, and the dynamic aspects of the fulfillment network. In our team, Tetris, we're building the Fulfillment Network Platform, which aims to be a digital twin of the physical fulfillment network. This means it’ll deliver all the relevant fulfillment info through unified APIs and access patterns, ensuring reliable data quality for all business processes in the fulfillment area.

IN OUR TEAM YOU WILL …

  • Assist the development of our new and existing solutions in Kotlin

  • Contribute to improvements of the operational tooling (monitoring, alerting, playbooks) for our solutions

  • Help to maintain the (technical) documentation of our teams

  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and stakeholders

  • Think abstractly and discover correlations between problems, methodologies, and solutions

  • Promote and support an inclusive culture and diverse team environment, fostering a positive and productive work environment for all team members

TELL US WHEN YOU ARE …

  • You are currently studying as a Bachelor of Science/Master degree in a relevant field in or around Dortmund.

  • You have first practical experience with Kotlin or Java and a good portion of curiosity regarding microservice architectures.

  • You have a foundation around SQL Databases and distributed systems (Client-server, Event-based).

  • You have motivation to tackle challenging topics and have ambitions to grow to become a Software Engineer.

  • You feel comfortable communicating in English, both written and oral.

  • You’re curious about software design and wish to learn how to develop systems that are easy to maintain and to extend.

  • You’re a team player who thrives in an agile and cross-functional environment, and is passionate about fostering a positive and productive work environment.

  • You prefer simple solutions over complex ones but at the same time, you are aware that complex problems sometimes require advanced algorithms.
