THE ROLE & THE TEAM
The Performance Marketing department is dedicated to deepening relationships with consumers outside Zalando by delivering relevant and engaging digital ads. We drive profitable growth through data-driven decision-making, while prioritizing customer privacy and leveraging innovative technology.
As a Data Analyst, you'll join a highly skilled analytics team that is transforming from a reactive support function to a proactive, strategic partner. You’ll move beyond answering ad-hoc requests to owning analytical projects end-to-end, building scalable solutions that drive impact. You will work closely with marketing professionals, product managers, engineers, and applied scientists to evaluate and optimize marketing investments and performance across various advertising channels.
WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Lead analytical projects on key initiatives, owning the process from hypothesis generation and measurement design to analysis and presenting clear, actionable insights
Partner with applied scientists to develop and improve existing marketing performance measurement models and validate the business impact of algorithmic changes
Design and execute rigorous testing and experimentation (A/B testing, incrementality testing, etc.) to accurately measure marketing effectiveness and guide investment decisions
Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify new optimization opportunities and formulate hypotheses for our strategic focus areas.
Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure data accuracy and build robust measurement infrastructure.
Contribute to the foundation of our self-service analytics model, helping to build and maintain scalable reporting dashboards and KPI documentation to empower stakeholders and your own team.
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
Have a proven track record of 3+ years in a Data Analyst, Product Analyst, or a similar role, with experience owning and delivering complex, high-impact projects.
Analytics: You’re confident in structuring analytical approaches to evaluate marketing performance and support business decisions, with experience working with KPI frameworks and deriving actionable insights.
Programming: Proficiency in SQL, including best practices like window functions and CTEs. Experience using Python for data analysis is a strong advantage. (Note: You will be asked to complete a SQL and Python task as part of the process.)
Statistics: You have a solid understanding of A/B testing and foundational causal inference methods (e.g., difference-in-differences). Exposure to predictive models (e.g., logistic regression) is a plus. (Note: You will be asked to complete a task-based interview related to A/B testing and other basic causal inference methods as part of the process.)
Data handling: You’ve worked with marketing and tracking data, helped define data needs, and are comfortable with basic ETL processes. Exposure to data governance or compliance topics is a plus.
Communication: You can translate complex data into clear insights for both technical and non-technical audiences. You’re collaborative, curious, and comfortable working across functions.
Educational background: A degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, or similar—paired with a strong desire to learn and grow in marketing analytics.
If you think you have what it takes, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every single requirement. You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles!
