THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Risk Management plays a vital role in the Zalando buying experience as it evaluates the intent and the ability of customers to pay for their purchases to then offer different payment methods accordingly. Such evaluations also form the backbone of our flagship deferred payment experience, enabling customers to try out products first and pay later for the ones they choose to keep. Risk Mgmt. does comprehensive risk assessment to offer payment methods to customers and executes post order fraud evaluations for potential risk. Our core value proposition is to minimise financial risks while offering our customers the payment methods they love.

The team will sit within risk management to develop world-class data labelling and screening solutions aiding both our world class machine learning capabilities and to double down on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of manual fraud prevention. The product manager is expected to partner with the team and with their peers and other multidisciplinary teams to optimise our proprietary products and to build new products for risk management teams.

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

  • Develop and deliver initiatives core to Zalando payment’s risk strategy working with data scientists, operations, legal, IT security team to minimise fraudsters activity.

  • Work with a well established set of machine learning teams to improve the labels generated by operations to improve the models 

  • Work with a well established operational team for improving internal tooling for fraud detection and labelling solutions . Build smarter tooling to improve our fraud detection and prevention capabilities of the operational team by 10X

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 6+ years  experience in Product Management, mainly focussing on building products for fraud detection and prevention

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; experience using data and KPIs to identify opportunities, test theories, confirm assumptions, prioritize requirements and measure success 

  • Evident passion for solving user problems through an empathetic, in-depth understanding of their needs and underlying motivations yet challenging and the ability to change the status quo.

  • Experience with conducting UAT, and user training before launching the product 

  • Experience in working with data independently  

  • Excellent communicator who understands different audiences (engineering, business, leadership) and adapts own communication style as needed

  • Strong (English) writing and storytelling skills (for Press releases, narratives, product requirement document) / can convey ideas and plans in a concise and compelling way

  • Personal traits: deal with ambiguity, team player, positivity, think big act fast, act like an owner
