THE ROLE & THE TEAM

As Senior Manager Public Affairs - Payments you will lead our policy efforts in the area of financial services and payments. You will represent the interests of Zalando SE and Zalando Payments GmbH - a regulated e-money institution - towards political decision makers and regulatory audiences at EU level and in key markets. The role can be based in Brussels or Berlin

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • You will drive Zalando’s EU level policy engagement independently, on various areas of financial services on EU level and in Germany. Policies relevant to Zalando range from the implementation of the Consumer Credit Directive, to the reform of the PSD2, fee schemes and many more.

  • You will ensure early detection. Monitor, assess, and advise internal stakeholders on policy and regulatory developments at EU level and possibly ad hoc at selected EU Member States level.

  • You will develop and draft policy positions in close collaboration with our payments and legal teams, responding to public consultations. 

  • You will engage in active relationship management with policymakers, authorities and associations in coordination with business, compliance, legal, tax, product and corporate governance teams. Build policy alliances and informal networks to advance business objectives. Facilitate constant exchange between policymakers and regulators and our subject matter experts. 

  • You will represent Zalando’s views towards political decision makers and regulatory audiences at EU level, in Germany and key markets. Ensure Zalando maintains constructive relationships.

  • You will engage proactively with trade associations and industry partners. Manage and leverage our respective memberships.

  • You will enable further business growth by working hand-in-hand with our business and communications units.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You have minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, regulatory experience in financial services would be beneficial.

  • You are enthusiastic to dive into additional highly regulated areas such as AML, (digital services) tax and customs when needed.

  • You come with a strong and relevant political network, a track record in successful relationship building and political influencing.

  • You have strong analytical capabilities, ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.

  • You bring excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. German is highly desirable.

  • You are willing to travel between Brussels and Berlin regularly.
