WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Own the responsibility for the complete, accurate, and on-time reporting of VAT-related obligations for Zalando entities. Demonstrate a high level of VAT accounting expertise, ensuring accurate VAT accounts through regular reconciliations.

  • Be the go-to person for both internal and external stakeholders, proactively managing communication on VAT reporting and other indirect tax matters for your portfolio of countries.

  • Exhibit proactive communication by collaborating closely with the VAT advisory team and other stakeholders to develop VAT policies and seamlessly implement new VAT requirements.

  • Display a high degree of ownership by independently managing VAT audits related to your assigned portfolio, taking initiative to address and resolve challenges with minimal guidance.

  • Work collaboratively with your team, leveraging strong people skills, to optimise, automate, and digitalise VAT processes and compliance, while supporting the tax team on various strategic Zalando Group initiatives.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • A Master’s Degree in Taxation, Law, Economics, or Business Administration. A professional qualification as a tax advisor is an advantage, but not mandatory.

  • A minimum of 5+ years of tax experience, preferably within an in-house tax team or an international tax advisory/auditing firm, with practical experience in VAT reporting topics.

  • Extensive experience in EU VAT reporting and tax accounting, combined with a strong understanding of EU VAT law and a hands-on mentality to approach challenges proactively.

  • Solid experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4HANA (or at least SAP R/3), and familiarity with tax reporting tools. Knowledge of AMANA GTC VAT would be an added advantage.

  • A team player with excellent communication skills, coupled with the ability to manage time and tasks autonomously.

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Proficiency in German is a plus.

  • You are happy to work a minimum of 2 days a week in our Berlin office onsite with the VAT team and stakeholders.

If you think you have what it takes, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every single requirement. You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles!
