Zalando Payments (ZPS) builds the technologies for all financial transactions in the Zalando fashion store and our other consumer facing apps. We work to deliver a seamless user experience in the checkout, offering the most relevant payment methods, as well as processing of payments and reconciliation in the backend. Through smart risk steering we boost conversion and deliver a competitive advantage to our partners.
As an Applied Scientist in the Finance Data science and Analytics team, you will own and contribute to topics from the Finance Performance Management, Treasure and Convenience organisations. Your main focus will be on the development and maintenance of forecasts and simulations to enable ZPS to steer its overall financial performance through timely investment and saving decisions.
In the scope of this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders from various job families, including Applied Science, Product, Controlling, Engineering and Analytics. You will support our organisation in building and maintaining a collaborative, data-driven culture and foster a strong sense of community both within and outside the team.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Supporting short- and long-term financial planning through forecasting a broad scope of key metrics, covering commercial, operational and financial measurements to evaluate ZPS’ future expected financial performance.
Supporting the development and maintenance of forecasting models used to measure the organisation’s exposure to credit and liquidity risk.
Supporting the development of an analytical framework for evaluating the drivers of financial performance.
Supporting investment and saving decisions through financial modelling by developing simulation capabilities.
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
Completed university degree (Bachelor or higher) in finance, statistics, mathematics or any comparable quantitative field.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a data science or research role, preferably with exposure to Finance.
Proficient in SQL and Python. Experience working with Databricks, AWS Suite (S3, Sagemaker, Cloudformation, etc), and Spark in the development of predictive models / machine learning / forecasts would be a plus.
Experience in the payment service provider (PSP) / FinTech industry, with a solid understanding of the industry’s idiosyncratic risks would be a plus.
