Lounge by Zalando is the leading online outlet in Europe, offering limited-time exclusive discounts on premium fashion and lifestyle brands. The Personal Relevance team at Lounge leverages data and advanced machine learning techniques to tailor customer experiences and communication.
As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will drive our scientific roadmap, deliver cross-department projects, and work closely with Product Managers, Engineers and other Applied Scientists across Zalando to enhance Lounge's product discovery and customer communication. Your work will create more personalized and engaging experiences for millions of customers across Europe, boosting customer satisfaction and loyalty.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Develop new forecasting models or improve existing approaches using scalable techniques.
Extract data for analysis and model development from large, complex datasets to explain demand trends.
Closely work with other applied science and engineering teams to build/reuse scalable, efficient systems that implement prototypes in production.
Refine problem definitions from informal business requirements and communicate technical solutions to senior business leaders.
Drive innovation and best practices in applied research across Zalando's research community.
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF:
You are experienced in Time Series Forecasting, specifically commercial metrics in platform economy, scenario-based forecasting, capital allocation and budget modelling.
Excellent knowledge of machine learning and statistics with a proven track record in addressing real-world problems using empirical science.
Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
3+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. PyGAM, Statsmodel, Octave, Matlab, etc.)
3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience
Experience with Databricks and Spark is a plus.
