As a (Senior) Manager - Sustainable and Circular Products (all genders) at Zalando, you will join the centre of excellence for the sustainability strategy of our product assortment. The responsibilities of this team are to both set minimum sustainability standards of our assortment while also increasing the assortment of products with reduced environmental impact and circular attributes. As the fashion sustainability eco-system evolves beyond raw material certifications, this role will have a focus on product performance certifications and readiness for a circular economy. This is a 12 months contract we are offering.

The overall sustainability landscape within which you will be working is still evolving, both internally and externally. You will be required to be both innovative and rigorous in your work to ensure your outputs are balanced between environmental impact reduction, industry readiness and upcoming regulation. Operating within our Supply Organisation, you will work closely with portfolio managers, sustainability experts, customer experience teams as well as a network of brands and external stakeholders to ensure we guide Zalando’s assortment to a lower impact future.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • You’ll support the definition and implementation of Zalando’s sustainability and circularity criteria

  • You’ll interpret public policy to inform strategies that reduce our assortments environmental impact.

  • You’ll analyse industry developments in sustainability and circular design to ensure Zalando is well positioned to capture early mover advantages.

  • You’ll ensure that the criteria, strategies, operations around product sustainability and circularity are compliant with environmental regulation.

  • You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders to shape the customer-facing product sustainability experience, including product claims, marketing campaigns and content.

  • You’ll provide expert guidance to key internal stakeholders to build up a network of champions around the organisation.

  • You’ll manage key relationships with external stakeholders (brand partners, industry initiatives) and leading project work as necessary.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You have professional experience in either fashion products or sustainability innovation.

  • You have knowledge of the existing major raw material certification schemes and know how to apply these in a fashion context.

  • You are able to manage ambiguity and can use qualitative and quantitative proof points to translate complex topics into clear messages for your stakeholders

  • You can balance conflicting stakeholder interests and make decisions based on your analysis of the trade-offs.

  • You have a practitioner's knowledge of project management, turning concepts into impact.

  • You thrive in a diverse team, promote divergent discussion, support wellbeing and sharing in joint successes.
