THE ROLE & THE TEAM
As a Software Engineer in our central Pipeline Orchestration team, you will play a critical role in helping maintain and optimise our data infrastructure, specifically focusing on AWS Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow (MWAA). You'll work alongside experienced engineers to ensure our data pipelines are reliable, performant, and cost-effective.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Work within Zalando’s central data infrastructure team, responsible for mission-critical services across the entire Zalando group, as the subject matter expert
Develop and maintain AWS Service Catalog products to streamline provisioning of Airflow environments
Create and maintain CloudFormation templates for infrastructure as code
Assist with maintaining and troubleshooting Airflow environments, including worker nodes, schedulers, and databases
Monitor system health and performance metrics
Troubleshoot and resolve routine issues related to Airflow DAG execution, dependencies, and failures
Contribute to identifying opportunities to reduce infrastructure costs associated with MWAA
Work closely with data engineers and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide technical support
Collaborate with the team to improve our overall data engineering practices and standards
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
You possess hands-on experience with Cloud technologies (preferably AWS)
Hands-on experience with Airflow
You have solid programming skills in Python
Demonstrated experience in analysing and optimising cloud resource usage and costs
You excel in communication, have a willingness to challenge the status quo, and the ability to train and consult other engineers
