THE ROLE & THE TEAM
The Workplace Infrastructure department is responsible for managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure across the entire Zalando Group. Our team ensures seamless network access and connectivity, oversees server and storage solutions, manages virtualization, and provides support for server operating systems as well as endpoint user devices. In addition, our specialised Cloud and Security team handles critical aspects such as site firewalls, VPN connections, and the security of our cloud networks, ensuring robust protection and optimal performance across all platforms.
As the Lead Cloud and Security Networks, you will be at the helm of a specialised team dedicated to ensuring the security, scalability, and reliability of our cloud infrastructure and network security across the Zalando Group. You will lead a team of 5 experts who are responsible for the design and implementation of our cloud networks, firewalls, and VPN connections.
In this role, you will drive operational excellence and lead the evolution of our cloud and security strategies. You will collaborate closely with Principal Engineers and SecurityInfoSec teams to build strong, long-term relationships, ensuring that our infrastructure meets the needs of the business both today and in the future. By providing clear direction and context, you will reduce ambiguity for your team and empower them to achieve their best work.

Lead and mentor a team of cloud and security network specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Oversee the design, implementation, and management of secure cloud networks, firewalls, and VPN solutions.
Ensure the operational excellence of our cloud and network security infrastructure, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
Collaborate with Principal Engineers, SecurityInfoSec and platform teams to align on long-term strategies and objectives.
Provide strategic direction, reduce ambiguity, and offer context to enable your team to deliver high-quality solutions.
Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to keep our cloud and security networks at the forefront of innovation.

Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development, operational excellence, and strategic planning.
Proven experience in leading teams of senior engineers specialising in IT with focus on network security.
Deep expertise in cloud networks, security frameworks, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams.
A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with a passion for staying ahead of industry trends.
