Senior Manager Public Affairs - Sustainability (all genders)

As Senior Manager EU Public Affairs, you will lead our sustainability policy efforts at EU level, representing Zalando directly towards EU policy-makers and stakeholders. The role will be based in Brussels and report to the Head of EU Public Affairs.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

Drive Zalando’s EU level policy engagement independently on various areas of sustainability policy such as ecodesign, packaging, labelling and of product level policy such as product safety etc.
Be our early detection system. Monitor, assess, and advise internal stakeholders on policy and regulatory developments at EU level and possibly ad hoc at selected EU Member States level.
Develop and draft policy positions in close collaboration with our sustainability teams, respond to public consultations.
Collaborate closely with EU and markets Public Affairs colleagues.
Represent the views of Zalando towards political decision makers and regulatory audiences at EU level. Ensure Zalando maintains constructive relationships.
Engage proactively with trade associations and industry partners. Manage and leverage our respective memberships.
Enable further business growth by working hand-in-hand with our business and communications units.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

5 to 8 years of relevant work experience with EU sustainability policy files.
Strong and relevant political network, a track record in successful relationship building and political influencing.
Strong analytical capabilities. Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Any other European language is a plus.
Empathic, resourceful, collaborative and solution-oriented candidates, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Strong interest in and knowledge of the e-commerce, retail and fashion/textile industry.
Willingness to regularly travel to headquarters in Berlin.
