Our Supplier Management team is at the heart of Zalando’s supplier negotiations. We support our Customer Propositions in driving negotiations with our entire supplier portfolio and in maximising the overall value of our supplier relationships. 
 

In this role, you will play a crucial part in cultivating strong, long-term relationships with our suppliers, driving Zalando’s commercial development and sustainable growth across the ecosystem.

In addition to supplier negotiations, as a Senior Business Developer, you will be at the forefront of strategic projects aimed at enhancing both top and bottom-line performance. Your responsibilities will include in-depth analysis of our suppliers' portfolio, identification of commercial opportunities, active collaboration in negotiations, and contribution to company-wide cross-functional projects. 

You will partner up and work closely with key stakeholders across the organisation, such as our brand Portfolio leaders and Supplier Captains, and you will have a direct impact on shaping the future of our commercial ventures.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Deeply understand the fashion industry and analyse all available sources of information (ie. the market, our customers and suppliers) to draw conclusions, identify patterns and propose directions for improvement of commercial relations with the suppliers and maximisation of the value of negotiated agreements

  • Partner with our Customer Propositions teams to define, shape and optimise their negotiation strategies and tactics, providing them with holistic support in developing Zalando’s partnerships with suppliers. 

  • Take an active role in supplier negotiations and identify opportunities to improve terms and conditions, with a sharp strategic mindset and a focus on profitability and financial diligence. 

  • Drive our negotiation and supplier management excellence and proactively identify and seize opportunities to improve systems, and processes and drive products that would increase the degree of automation in the area. 

  • Own cross-functional projects from initiation and requirements definition to retrospective and post-project follow-up and manage all of their aspects (ie. scope, time, quality) in a structured manner and in line with the stakeholders’ expectations.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You have a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant working experience in one or more of the following domains: Category Management, Fashion Buying and/or Merchandising, Strategic and/or Commercial Consulting, Controlling, B2B Sales or Procurement. 

  • You have experience in commercial negotiations and a deep understanding of commercial KPIs, including profitability, cash flow and others.. Experience in the Fashion industry and/or marketplace platform business models is a plus.

  • You possess advanced analytical skills to perform quantitative analysis leveraging basic modelling and manipulation of large data sets (ie. queries, macros, advanced pivots, etc.) to derive actionable insights. Advanced knowledge of Excel and/or Google Sheets and basic knowledge of SQL and/or Python are a must.

  • You pair your analytical and problem-solving capabilities with your strategic mindset and your ability to dig deep into the details (eg. P&L statement modelling), but also elevate and see the helicopter-view perspective, to connect the dots and identify unrealised business opportunities. 

  • You are a self-driven leader from within and a great communicator, who has a demonstrated track record of rallying teams around great ideas. You use strong project management skills to drive improvement initiatives from start to finish and you build alliances with stakeholders at different levels of the organisation. 

  • You possess a winning mentality and are a natural collaborator who thrives in fast-paced, high-performance teams through a positive attitude and willingness to coach and to learn. 

  • You are fluent in English.
