The company has an inhouse executive search team, with Executive Talent Acquisition Partners (aka Recruiters) and Executive Talent Scouts (aka Sourcers). Zalando is looking for an Executive Talent Acquisition Lead to manage and develop a team of recruiters and sourcers. 

As a Senior Executive Talent Acquisition Lead you will also collaborate closely with senior hiring managers including our Management Board members to identify, attract and recruit executives to take Zalando to the next level. You own the entire recruitment strategy and process from role development through to onboarding and the candidate/employee experience.

  • Create customised search strategies for open roles whilst also sourcing to build pipelines of interested, evaluated executive candidates and future roles whether they be for succession plans or to fill experience and knowledge gaps as the company innovates and evolves. 

  • To lead and drive the end-to-end selection process (sourcing, screening, interviews, offers, negotiations) and you make accountable hiring decisions together with our senior leadership. 

  • You feel comfortable liaising with those senior stakeholders and being their sparring partner in all aspects related to recruiting and onboarding. As that sparring partner you will challenge decisions but also advise and bring best practice to all matters related to executive recruitment. 

  • Build an exceptional candidate-centric recruitment process with the candidate experience at its heart and continuously optimise the process to ensure Zalando continues to attract and hire the very best talent available.

  • Demonstrates ability to influence senior leadership  and gain alignment on candidate calibration as well as reinforcing the needs for diverse talent be that gender or other underrepresented groups.

  • Collaborates across People & Organisation (in particular HR Business Partners and Compensation and Benefits) to identify key data points to influence future decisions and sourcing strategies; leverage these metrics to monitor and ensure internal customer and external candidate satisfaction 


  • End-to-end executive recruitment experience, a proven track record of hiring senior profiles and successful collaboration with diverse hiring managers up to C-level 

  • Strong track record of making executive-level hires in both a corporate AND executive search firm environment 

  • Leadership and management experience of teams including their development and coaching 

  • Ideally expert knowledge hiring Technology Leadership (i.e. engineering, product management) but also exposure to other job functions (i.e. Sales, Marketing, General Management and Corporate Functions)

  • Very strong stakeholder management skills and a deep understanding of the use of  recruiting indicators (eg. data) to guide sourcing and recruiting strategy and outcomes. Ability to think ahead in recruiting processes and de-risk trade off decisions for the business.

  • Experience in the education, direction and coaching of third party recruiting partners  (e.g. search firm partners, research firms)
