Zalando Marketing Services (ZMS) is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the ZMS Audiences team tasked with revolutionizing how we target and engage customers through data-driven insights. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of our audience targeting solutions, overseeing the development and operational strategy of our audience data products from the ground up. Your leadership will directly impact our ability to build sophisticated, cross-device customer profiles, run large-scale data processing jobs, and serve audiences to highly targeted marketing campaigns with precision and efficiency.
As the Engineering Manager of ZMS Audiences, your challenge is to assemble and nurture a high-performing team capable of managing our end-to-end audience solutions—spanning audience building, large-scale data processing on Databricks, low-latency audience serving to ad servers, and comprehensive audience measurement and integration. You will ensure that our systems are not only robust and scalable but also capable of delivering personalized marketing campaigns with measurable impact.
Your role involves close collaboration with product managers, data analysts, and cross-functional teams to define and execute a roadmap that aligns with ZMS’s strategic goals. You'll be responsible for fostering an environment of innovation, where cutting-edge technologies and data-driven approaches are leveraged to meet our ambitious objectives. Through your leadership, the team will push the boundaries of what's possible in ad-tech, setting new standards for audience segmentation, targeting, and engagement in an increasingly competitive landscape.

Innovative Leadership: Build, inspire, and lead a team of backend/data engineers and an analyst to develop groundbreaking audience data products, setting a high bar for innovation and excellence in the ad-tech domain.
Strategic Technical Direction: Architect and implement scalable, high-performance solutions for data processing and audience serving, ensuring our infrastructure meets the evolving needs of targeted marketing campaigns.
Operational and Performance Excellence: Oversee all aspects of system reliability, performance optimization, and cost efficiency, maintaining our commitment to 24x7 availability and exceptional service delivery.
Collaborative Product Development: Work closely with product, design, and analytics teams to turn complex data insights into effective audience targeting strategies, driving continuous improvement in campaign performance and partner ROI.
