THE ROLE & THE TEAM
Zalando Payments’s Technology department is looking for an Engineering Manager to help us extend and improve our checkout systems for our customers across all markets.
Our Checkout Backend team builds the platform that lets customers pay for their purchases in the Fashion Store, Zalando Lounge and for their Zalando Plus membership. Their solutions enable customers to select their preferred payment options based on the offering and capture all necessary information. Tailoring the flows to be as seamless as possible while in compliance with the demanding regulatory environment.

WHY YOU SHOULD BE INTERESTED
You will work with various stakeholders like Product Analysts and Product Managers to understand the business context and performance to create solutions improving the customer experience
You work together with your team on building the solutions that you designed together with Product Managers and Principal Engineers and collaborate with other teams and Project Managers on bigger projects
You coach your team and individual team members to help them continuously get better in their job, unfold their potential and take the next steps in their careers
You regularly review the operational quality and compliance of the services owned by you and your team and suggest steps to improve
You collaborate with Product Managers on building roadmaps and identify capacity needs
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
You consistently demonstrate a customer centric approach and start to flag continuous improvements initiatives within your area
You have a proven track record of successfully leading a high performing software engineering team
You are experienced in building and operating large scale, mission critical and distributed systems using backend technologies like cloud platforms, relational or NoSQL databases and JVM
You are a strong communicator in English, both verbal and written, and able to explain technical matters to non-technical folks
You enjoy coaching and growing software engineers
