THE ROLE AND THE TEAM
As a Senior Data Management Consultant in Data Management, you will play a pivotal role in driving data governance initiatives in a decentralised data management setup. You will conceptualise data management concepts and guidelines, define scalable and lightweight data management processes, and identify opportunities to streamline adoption. Collaborating closely with various teams across Zalando, you will have the opportunity to lead initiatives focused on effective management of data products in a federated context, enhancing data quality, and optimising data operations.
You will be an integral part of our data governance team, known for its excellent team spirit and customer-centric approach. As part of the Data Management department, together we build secure, scalable and efficient solutions making Zalando’s petabytes of data easily re-usable and accessible to all our internal users.
WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Conceptualize and define scalable data management concepts, processes and guidelines that align with Zalando’s Data Strategy.
Lead initiatives focused on effective management of data products in a federated context, ensuring alignment with business requirements and compliance standards.
Collaborate with teams to roll out data management processes and frameworks.
Provide guidance and support to teams across Zalando on data governance principles, practices, and tools.
Identify opportunities for automation to lower barriers for adoption and improve efficiency in data management practices.
Drive improvements in data quality through the development and implementation of data quality frameworks, standards, and best practices.
Facilitate decision making by writing carefully crafted narrative documents which clearly communicate the rationale in an easily digestible and professional manner.
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
You have at least 5 years of experience in data-related areas such as data management, data engineering or data science.
You have a deep understanding of data management principles, processes, and best practices.
You have experience with cloud-based data infrastructures and it is a plus if you are familiar with Databricks, Collibra and data quality frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations, Soda).
Ideally, you have a proven track record of conceptualising and implementing scalable data governance initiatives. We also welcome lateral entrants without direct data governance expertise, but with a passion for data, alongside exceptional stakeholder management and conceptualization skills.
You possess exceptional stakeholder management capabilities and can effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
You have experience working with technical teams and are comfortable navigating complex technical landscapes.
You thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and are adept at managing multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously.
You are excited about complex problems, show grit and curiosity at tackling them and have a proactive and innovative mindset.
