At Zalando, we value the expertise of our employees. They know their work processes inside and out and often have clever ideas on how to make work easier or more effective. Employees can submit their suggestions for improvement digitally or in writing via our Kaizando ideas platform. Various teams from our logistics department work together to review each suggestion and, if possible, implement it. Good suggestions are rewarded with a bonus. Like Steffen's suggestion, for example.
Until recently, the Tech Team at the Erfurt logistics center often had to recover a garbage bin or two from the waste disposal system. Why? Because someone had placed it the wrong way round into the compactor, resulting in it slipping out of the bracket when it was lifted off the ground. Recovering the bins was a time-consuming and laborious task, which is why Facility Manager Steffen came up with the idea of labeling them. He submitted his proposal through the Kaizando ideas platform. Stickers with green, smiling emojis now show that the bin is the right way around. A red, sad emoji, on the other hand, signifies that the bin needs to be turned around 180 degrees.
