If your application is reviewed positively by the hiring team, the interview process for Marketing roles at Zalando typically consists of several steps:
- A screening interview with a Talent Acquisition Partner.
- An interview with the hiring manager about the scope, team and vision for the role.
- A case study to demonstrate your Marketing expertise and depth.
- A final interview stage consisting of 3 interviews with key stakeholders and team members.
The average interview process takes about 3 - 4 weeks, depending on the availability of the candidates and interviewers. The focus of the final round will be different for each role. For example, interviews for an individual contributor position will differ to roles for people leadership. All interviews of the final interview stage do not have to happen on the same day, we will be flexible and optimize the process to your individual needs and preferences.

Screening interview with a Talent Acquisition Partner (30min) - During this session, we would like to better understand your motivation, expectations, and skills. We will help give you a better understanding of the position, the business area, and Zalando’s culture. Bring your initial questions on the position and Zalando culture to this call. We will also ask 1 or 2 high-level questions to evaluate your skill and experience level.
Preliminary interview (30 - 60min) - In this session with your potential future lead, you’ll have an opportunity to share insights into your core marketing experience, your impact, how you overcame challenges in previous roles, and the measurable impact you delivered. We want to learn how you approach complex projects and understand how you collaborate and influence to drive business outcomes. This interview is also your chance to get more insights about the position and team you applied for. It’s also a great opportunity to get to know your future lead. Ask questions - don’t be shy!
Final interview round:
Case Study (1 hour) - Leading marketing campaigns to help build a strong brand proposition for Zalando is a core part of Marketing at Zalando. During this interview stage, our goal is to understand your thought process - there is no right or wrong answer. You will have a chance to showcase your end-to-end approach to campaigns as a part of a larger marketing team. Depending on the specific role you are applying for, the case study will take place live in a call or as a written case to submit. You can expect the interviewer to verify your ability to operate in the problem-and-solution space as well as acting on the strategy and vision. Don’t shy away from sharing your learnings from failure and the campaigns that didn’t turn out as expected.
Stakeholder management (1 hour) - During this session, the focus is on how you collaborate with others, resolve conflicts, and influence decision making to achieve strategic Marketing goals. The interviewer will try to understand how you manage different stakeholders, how complex your stakeholders’ environment is, and how you tailor communication for different audiences. Representing and presenting Marketing strategy to other parts of the business is crucial for the Marketing role at Zalando. Therefore, we would love to hear how you build narrative and ensure a compelling Marketing vision.
Analytical thinking and generation of actionable insights (1 hour) - Zalando passionately believes in scientific, evidence-based decision making. In this session, we encourage you to think of a complex problem solved via deep analysis, and which analytical methods you used to understand the problem and identify solutions. Present your structured, data-informed approach, dive deep into metrics, and you will ace this interview!
