The City
Close to the lake of the same name in northern Switzerland, the office is located in the the city centre of Zurich. As a global hotspot not only for banking and finance, but also for media and creative companies, Zurich has a lot to offer. Thanks to the famously punctual public transport in Switzerland, it is easy to explore what the city has to offer in no time at all.
Switzerland has one of the strongest economies in the world and offers a high quality of life in many areas. It is also home to many top universities that offer high-quality education and emphasise the region's international nature, as well as the many languages and dialects spoken, including German, Italian, French, Romansh, English, and Swiss German.
Our Office
Our Zurich office is located in Switzerland's second largest building, offering a stunning 360° view of the city, lake, mountains, and surrounding natural beauty. This breathtaking scenery inspired the office's modern, open design. The workspace was created for collaboration, featuring open workstations, plenty of greenery, and bright, relaxing colours that reflect the beauty of the landscape.
Our Teams
In our Zurich Tech Hub, there are around 40 Zalando employees from 16 nations working in the following teams:
The Size & Fit team, which helps customers find the right size with tools such as size flags and personalised size recommendations, to improve the customer's shopping experience and reduce waste.
The PRSB (personalisation recommendation, search and browse) team develops models and systems that help to improve the discovery and inspiration experience of our customers.
The Business and Experimentation team supports the Entertainment and Inspiration initiatives and analyses customer behaviour on a large scale.
The work of these teams contribute to an improved online shopping experience and long-term engaged customers. The teams in the Zurich Tech Hub work cross-functionally with Berlin as our other tech hubs.
Our Working Environment
The ‘Zulandos’, as the employees at the Zalando office in Zurich call themselves, like to get together to exchange ideas and learn from each other and the wider tech community in Zurich. To this end, they attend various events such as Databricks, a software engineering conference, and exchange ideas with other professionals.
Our Zurich office also organises various internal casual events throughout the year. This can take the form of an office breakfast with croissants, fruit and coffee to encourage lively conversations among colleagues. The traditional German coffee & cake (Kaffe und Kuchen) time is used by everyone to practise their German in a relaxed atmosphere. For the outdoor enthusiasts, the annual hiking day, which takes place every October, offers a day in the mountains filled with outdoor activities and team bonding, promoting both fitness and camaraderie.
