Working, where teamwork comes first

Since its opening in June 2020, the Zalando Outlet Store in Ulm has been an integral part of the city. Spread over 1,640 square meters of sales floor, everything here is about giving customers the best possible shopping experience. This goal is achieved every day by a team of around 30 colleagues.

The atmosphere? Open, lively, and familial. The Ulm team is diverse: young and experienced, from different countries and with a variety of lifestyles – and that’s exactly what makes their collaboration so strong. Many colleagues are also friends outside of work, which is especially noticeable during lunch times: when the break room is buzzing with laughter and conversation on a Saturday, that’s just typical for the team in Ulm.

A store with character

Our store in Ulm is slightly off the main street, making it a real hidden gem for anyone who appreciates both fashion and a relaxed atmosphere. The large glass front, high ceilings, and wide walkways create a bright, pleasant shopping experience even on the busiest days.

Service that stands out

When you’re shopping at the Ulm Outlet Store, one thing quickly becomes clear: the team is passionate about what they do. Even in stressful moments, colleagues stay calm and help with a smile. This ensures every customer feels welcome. It’s no wonder many loyal customers visit regularly. While the urban catchment of this charming city is smaller than in some larger cities, it’s exactly this aspect that strengthens the connection between store and customers and contributes to our high share of friendly regulars.

A varied day-to-day

A typical day at the Outlet Store is divided into three phases: Opening, Store Hours, and Closing. During Opening and Closing, the focus is on organization, planning, and administrative tasks, while during store hours, the focus is always on the customers. Even when you’re working on staff planning, at any moment the walkie might buzz: “Please open another checkout!” That’s the signal that support is needed on the sales floor, because our customers have found their favorite items. No day is ever the same.

Tackling challenges as a team

Of course there are challenges, from housekeeping tasks to dealing with crime around the store. But instead of being discouraged, we grow stronger together. Everyone helps wherever they can, because one thing is clear: only when we work as a team can we achieve our goals.

Where work and friendship go hand in hand

At the Ulm Outlet Store, teamwork doesn’t end when the store closes. Whether it’s a regular night out at ‘their’ bar or celebrating a team member’s milestone birthday, the team meets outside of work as well. This close connection among the colleagues shows just how special our team really is.

Freddy, our Store Manager, is particularly proud of how his team has developed: from junior sales assistants to the leadership team, everyone has grown together through efficient collaboration.
