We are a team of applied scientists and engineers aiming to provide a flawless shopping experience by providing accurate demand forecasts, and to achieve unit economics by smart stock management. As the Applied Scientist in assortment recommendation, you'll be working with other Applied Scientists and stakeholders to build the next-gen forecast models to support stock planning decisions.

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

  • Actively contribute to the team roadmap, and work closely with product managers and engineers to identify areas of opportunity and resource requirements to deliver impactful projects 
  • Help the team to build up expertise in creating measures of uncertainty around point estimates in ML models. 
  • Communicate technical problems and results effectively with other team members and also with (less technical) stakeholders. Educate them about your products and solutions. 
  • End-to-end technical ownership in product development. You enjoy finding solutions to new complex problems and don’t mind getting your hands dirty (with pen and paper or in your IDE of choice)
  • Build production-friendly prototypes as well as owning the training component in production, using common programming tools (e.g. sklearn, PyTorch, Tensorflow etc.)

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Master degree or above (PhD) in quantitative economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, operation research or a related quantitative discipline with a strong theoretical foundation in statistics, bayesian inference, probability theory and/or deep learning. Command of causal inference is a big plus.
  • At least 2 years of industry (non-academic) experience (1 years with PhD degree) in developing ML data products. 
  • Extensive experience with Python and its associated data science libraries, and proficient in Programming, with a good exposure in ML pipeline design pattern. Familiarity with AWS, and pyspark is a big plus. 
  • Comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.
