THE ORG: SIZE & FIT
At Size & Fit, we help customers find what fits the first time! We do this by creating scalable feedback loops between fashion consumers and creators, enabling a personalized and highly satisfactory fit.
The Size & Fit team tackles the largely unsolved problem of size and fit from the perspective of both Zalando customers and partners. Through innovation and seamless integration across the customer journey, we provide advice and experiences that ensure customers get the right fit the first time. By understanding the size and fit needs of our retail customers, we generate business intelligence that supports brands and buying teams in optimizing their assortment strategies and production lines.
Our team closely collaborates with the Propositions teams responsible for assortment strategy, prioritizing algorithmic development to address the areas where customers need the most support. This synergy allows us to enhance the shopping experience and meet our customers' expectations, making sure they find the perfect fit every time they shop with Zalando.

THE ROLE
As Director of Engineering Size and Fit, you will be responsible for delivering customer centric, data-driven products that change the game for our customers and brand partners when it comes to finding the right fit. You will be leading leaders of our engineering organisation, spanning: Fullstack, Data, R&D, and App engineering. You will define and own our engineering strategy, technical roadmaps and delivery processes.
More broadly, you will establish a trusted relationship with your product, design and applied science counterparts and together define, own and execute on the long term vision and strategy. In addition, hiring strong talent to build up your teams and create an engineering organisation that is set up for long term growth and success.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS - WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF:
Prior experience having built and scaled a Virtual Try On solution, seeing scale through to XXm users.
Authentic and inspiring technical leader with a clear vision, collaborative approach, and commitment to build, empower and coach a high-performing engineering organisation.
7+ years of Engineering leadership experience, including leading complex organisations of managers of managers, and built and led geographically-distributed engineering teams.
Depth of technical expertise within data engineering and moving ML-based solutions into production, to deliver compelling and delightful user experiences.
Prior exposure to Virtual Try On / 3D / Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality / Avatar solutions.
Highly collaborative; experience partnering closely with Applied Science, Product, and wider Engineering counterparts to craft overarching strategy and vision for a domain.
Highly strategic and analytical thinker.
Outstanding stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills; adept at translating technical strategy into business impact and vice versa.
