Our Category Management Team is passionate about fashion and lifestyle. We want customers to find the perfect fashion and lifestyle products for them, from shoes and clothing and accessories. Category Management’s task is to put together an on-trend and profitable selection of products. We love discovering new brands and products for the Zalando shops, but finding the right trends is only one aspect, as we also need to keep track of our KPIs and processes. Constant exchange with other departments like logistics, content and photo production, the onsite team, and marketing ensures that we act in line with the whole organisation. In the end, we are all working towards the same goal: to create an excellent experience for our customers at Zalando.
As an Assistant Buyer at Zalando you will be accountable for taking actions that ensure the unit reaches its seasonal financial targets, depending on your area of responsibility within the platform. These actions are varied; from overseeing the order process end-to-end, as well as providing analytical support to our partners and the wider team to provide the best customer proposition. You'll impact future seasons by providing analytical insights and recommendations to grow the business for both your team and our brand partners, as well as devising your own strategies. You will coordinate and manage some operational and strategic issues and projects, with the guidance and support of other team members/your lead.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
You will be working in the category responsible for Zalando Designer & Luxury Brands across multiple product areas (Men's, Women's Ready-to-wear, Accessories and Footwear).
An invaluable member of the Luxury Buying team, you will be responsible for all necessary operational processes required to bring our assortment to customers. You will be the details expert of the team, completing all tasks with proficiency and accuracy with our Buying tools and software for order raising.
Preparation of product-based analysis for how we take commercial decisions each season and develop proposals for the assortment selection. You are confident in working with numbers; both performance or commercial KPIs alongside customer insights and on-site metrics.
Gradually joining selected buying appointments with Buyers, strategic and trading meetings with brands where you support in presenting commercial results and communicating the category and Zalando strategy.
Supporting your team in all operational and functional matters, by creating, maintaining, & sending/cancelling orders. Detail oriented, you make sure all necessary steps are followed through to maintain your teams datasets are up to date and accurate for internal purposes.
A confident communicator, responsive and professional, you are the first point of contact for our extended range of brand partners. Next to your buyers, you will support in onboarding new brands, alongside setting up and maintaining all your categories commercial contracts.
Work closely with our merchandise planning team in order to ensure that our products are available for purchase, eager to embrace problem solving and solution focused tasks.
Next to your operational work, you will start to learn to plan, buy and develop your own assortment area, moving towards taking independent ownership and full commercial accountability for a select portfolio of brands.
You support the team with marketing and trend topics, therefore contributing to the creative and commercial strategy of the business unit.
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Fashion Management or an education in a similar area.
You have a basic knowledge and first hand experience (+- 1 year) in Buying or Merchandising on an assistant level and demonstrable interest for e-commerce and the Fashion industry.
You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, adaptable to shifting priorities and working in collaboration with multiple stakeholders across different areas of the business.
You truly value a feedback driven culture underpinned by commitment to team collaboration, transparency, accountability and support. We strive to be our team's biggest fan; celebrating success’ and reflecting on what we can all still learn.
You are known to organise your workload efficiently, ensuring tasks are ready on time, are accurate and prioritised according to the category or business targets.
Combining passion for numbers with fashion, you can demonstrate knowledge and skills in MS Office, Google Tools for any numbers based, presentation and written document based tasks.
Moreover, you have a strong understanding for fashion trends, consumer trends and product quality, especially at European-market level.
