Software Engineer - Data Infrastructure (all genders)
THE ROLE & THE TEAM
As a Software Engineer in our central Google Data Platform team, you will play a critical role in helping maintain and optimise our data infrastructure, specifically focusing on improving our Google Cloud Platform setup. You'll work alongside experienced engineers to ensure our cloud setup is and remains reliable, performant, and cost-effective.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Work within Zalando’s central data infrastructure team, responsible for mission-critical services across the entire Zalando group, as the subject matter expert
Improve the current deployment and configuration repository
Monitor system health and performance metrics
Work closely with data engineers and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide technical support
Collaborate with the team to improve our overall data engineering practices and standards
Participate in the central 24/7 team
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
You possess hands-on experience with Cloud technologies (preferably GCP)
You have solid programming skills in Python
You know how to implement and use REST APIs
You have experience using Terraform or other IAC tools
You have basic SQL knowledge (best in BigQuery) to support our stakeholders to improve queries
Demonstrated experience in analysing and optimising cloud resource usage and costs
You excel in communication, have a willingness to challenge the status quo, and the ability to train and consult other engineers
