As a Buyer in our Young Fashion Directional department, you’re part of a high-performing and driven team, creating new and innovative ways to connect people and fashion. You are responsible for a diverse set of brands like Aldo, Buffalo, and Von Dutch. You are passionate about the fashion industry from all different angles. You will plan, buy, and develop your brand portfolio, taking ownership and accountability of performance KPIs and communicating Zalando's strategy to your brand partners. You report directly to the Senior Buyer and work closely alongside your team consisting of two Junior Buyers and an Assistant Buyer.
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
Identification of the best product selection for some of the unit’s brands to increase performance indicators, whilst being passionate about fashion and a market expert with a European view of the latest trends
Finding the right assortment balance between being commercial and fashionable at the same time
Checking trends, sourcing new brands, and negotiating the best terms for Zalando whilst you manage daily relationships with the existing suppliers
Know your KPIs and partner with the merchandise team for planning sales and budget and the OTB to monitor and review the performance of your unit, making recommendations based on valid numbers
Exchanging and building successful relationships with other departments like Operations, Content and Photo production, Onsite Management, and Marketing. You will work cross-functionally to drive sales and maximize profit

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
You'll be accountable for autonomously steering the defined business area, delivering impact in the current and future seasons
You'll be responsible for defining, implementing and executing the brand's buying strategy, whilst taking into account our customer, the platform strategy and targets, and consulting the unit owner
You'll have functional leadership responsibility for the buying team in your unit.
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF YOU HAVE:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business or a comparable field.
Minimum 5 years of buying experience in a Head Office environment or within an e-commerce retailer.
Designer multi-brand experience preferred, significant experience leading relationships with strategic accounts
Knowledge & passion for the luxury market and emerging brands on a global level
Excellent analytical skills, knowledge in MS Office/Google and combining the passion for numbers with fashion and trends.
Excellent strategic mindset with the ability to connect plans to timely and in full delivery
Proven track record of new business acquisitions and incentives that deliver results
Negotiation is in your blood and you are a strong communicator with suppliers and other stakeholders.
Quick thinking and proactive attitude, which also means you keep on top of things in a fast paced environment. Team-focused attitude whilst ensuring strong independent working practices.
