THE ROLE & THE TEAM
Zalando Stores is a retail business unit within Zalando universe. We operate 15 (and counting) physical outlet stores across Germany. As a Software Engineer you will join an autonomous, cross-functional team, lay and transform the technical foundation needed as we continue our growth. You will design, architect, and build mission-critical applications that improve and automate processes for different groups of stakeholders (Stores Management, Zalando Engineering Community, Outlets customers). Through collaboration with them, you will develop highly resilient software components in a microservice-based and event-driven system tailored for retail.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Create scalable solutions and own the entire development cycle - from architecture design to implementation, testing and maintenance.
Own your code and decide on the technologies and tools to deliver as well as operate large-scale applications, based on a microservices architecture.
Take an active role in understanding business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
Play a leading part in evolving and scaling our systems as per our business demands.
Own service operational duties, including monitoring and keeping them up and running and healthy
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF…
You have a track record in software development as an individual contributor in designing and building backend microservices in Go
You would like to work with our tech stack (Go, SQL, AWS, Kubernetes, TS, NodeJS)
You have understanding of microservice application design, cloud, observability, monitoring and alerting principles and techniques
You follow engineering principles such as SOLID, DRY, KISS
You have good verbal and written communication skills in English
Experience in at least one front-end technology (JS/TS, NodeJS, React) is a plus.
