ABOUT THE LOGISTICS CENTER ERFURT
Our logistics center in Erfurt is the first Zalando warehouse that we developed ourselves from A to Z. The center, which opened in 2012 and covers an area of 130,000 square meters, sets new standards for the industry and combines the latest generation of infrastructure with intelligent thinking and a great team spirit. From here we process and ship thousands of orders every day - to customers all over Europe. Not only are we part of the largest logistics network in the European fashion industry, we are also continuously working on improving our technologies and processes. In this way, our teams are able to connect people with the latest fashion trends faster than was previously possible.
THE ROLE & THE TEAM
Title: Site Lead - Erfurt
Reports to: Carsten Bernstein, Director Logistics Warehouses Germany
Location: Erfurt, Germany
Team Size: 2500-3000
Direct reports: 2x Senior Ops Manager, Site Controlling&Procurement, HSE, Security, Project Manager, Internal Site communication
The Warehouse Site Lead Erfurt is leading and responsible for the Warehouse Operations and up to 3,500 employees. Main task of the role is to manage a Zalando mega-site in Germany with an operational budget of ~ 120m EUR p.a. and a usually 7 digits investment budget p.a. which requires knowledge of the relevant German laws and regulations. Running the EF site requires senior skills of managing ~150 leaders (> 30 area managers, 9 operations managers and > 100 team leads and functional leads for controlling and safety as well as leads of matrix functions). The WH site lead is the Zalando face for the region: press media issues, relations to politicians and state representatives as well as business networks and companies in the region. Furthermore, driving performance management in a real-time e-commerce business is a key requirement for the site lead. Be it the net performance, the support share or the idle time, these core financial KPIs continuously must be managed by enabling the process team to generate and implement process improvements. Benchmarking with the other sites (Germany and international) and competitors is crucial. The site lead sets the course and the role model for representing culture of Zalando values.

Background and experience. You have gained extensive work experience in the industry with a strong bias towards excellent daily operations; leading people and representing/executing a strategy.
Leadership. Be able to lead our people in the warehouse by example, drive strategic solutions, and develop a clear roadmap to achieve our business goals
Strategic thinking. Be able to fly high and dive deep in every dimension of the daily operations. You are a strategic business owner with an impressive analytical and statistical conceptual skill set.
Effective and inspiring networker. We rely on people with agile mindsets, talking to each other to identify interdependencies and sources of mutual value to create optimal solutions through the entire industry; fluent German language skills are mandatory.
Track record of successfully leading teams through transformation and being comfortable with a flexible, less structured environment where new ideas and processes are (re-)designed, optimized and implemented. Ability to upskill the organization and from whom Zalando can learn.
