The primary mission of our Treasury team is to ensure Zalando's financial health and sustainability by meticulously managing and optimising its funding and risk. We are dedicated to developing and implementing advanced strategies that ensure sufficient cash flow and resources are available to meet Zalando's operational needs, growth initiatives, and investment opportunities.
Our team is committed to identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks, including market volatility, interest rate fluctuations, and credit risks, that could impact our financial position and operational capabilities.
Through proactive financial management, strategic planning, and leveraging data insights, we aim to enhance Zalando's financial flexibility and resilience. Our mission encompasses fostering strong relationships with financial institutions, investors, and internal stakeholders to support the company’s strategic objectives and to promote a culture of financial awareness and risk sensitivity across the organisation.
The Role
As the Director of Treasury, you will represent Treasury at Zalando holistically and for the entire Zalando Group as well as all legal entities, including the parent, Zalando SE. Your role is to oversee Capital Structure & Funding, Liquidity Management & Investments and Risk Management towards Zalando internal customers such as management board, supervisory board and audit committee as well as external stakeholders, including all our partner banks.
You will lead all aspects of Treasury, including financing, cash management, investment oversight, financial risk management, and banking relationships. Your strategic financial insights and leadership will support Zalando's growth, sustainability, and profitability goals.
Develop short-, medium- and long-term financing strategy, build up and maintain close relationships with international financial institutions.
Proactively conceive and implement own initiatives that align with Group Strategy, steer treasury related projects and initiatives such as pursuing a rating.
Lead negotiations with financial institutions and push for healthy partnership.
Direct supervision of a team of 8 employees and mentoring team leaders.
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF YOU POSSESS
A proven leader in treasury with experience in risk management, financing, cash management, and capital markets within large-scale organisations.
A demonstrated success in the treasury functions of multinational companies, with a deep understanding of international finance and operations.
Expertise in scaling treasury strategies in companies with revenues exceeding EUR 2 billion.
A background in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments, ideally in public companies.
Fluency in English, with German language skills as a plus, adept at communicating complex financial strategies.
Extensive leadership experience in consumer, data-focused, and technology-driven international businesses.
A customer-centric mindset, know how to put yourself in your client’s shoes.
An experienced leader of leaders who is fostering collaboration and passionate about designing, managing and developing teams.
A comfort with a flexible, less structured environment where new ideas and processes are (re-)designed, optimised and implemented.
