Senior Software Engineer (All Genders)
Customer Care Engineering Team is a cross-functional team accountable for building platform grade backend and frontend capabilities for customer enabling and customer-facing products/services.
Backend services are integrated, aggregated from different downstream services built from hundreds of other services (owned by other teams), with distributed systems principles (scalable, reliable, consistent) in place to minimize the impact of any downstream services on consumers and provide seamless customer experiences.
Front-end services (interfaces) built for customers across multiple countries/languages to provide seamless human and bot (chat and voice) experiences. This team serves millions of customers relentlessly to provide a seamless and better experience.
We are looking for a strong individual with a track record of delivering highly scalable, critical-path services who are looking to further grow in their professional career by building systems that directly influence the onsite experience of millions of Zalando customers.
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
Take ownership of the whole development cycle - design, develop, deliver, operate, and improve important software systems that impact millions of customers every week
Decide on the technologies and tools to deliver and operate scalable microservice-based applications on AWS
Collaborate with product organization and stakeholders from other teams, become an owner and expert of our domain
Help us become better, provide active feedback, mentor and support the development of more junior colleagues
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
5+ years of professional experience software development experience and proficiency in Java (Kotlin is a plus)
Proven experience of professional Experience in designing distributed systems, microservices, and cloud architectures as well as experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
Skilled in continuous integration / continuous delivery automated deployment and monitoring through Docker, Kubernetes, or similar
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, experience in writing technical documentation
Eagerness to read code, and pair with other engineers on refactoring and implementation of new features
Familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes is a plus.
Collaboration with engineering teams, managers, and product stakeholders from different backgrounds.
Strong analytical skills.
