THE ROLE AND THE TEAM
As a Senior Platform Engineer in Data Management, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of Zalando's central data platform. Together we build secure, scalable and efficient solutions making Zalando’s petabytes of data easily reusable and accessible to all our internal users. Your primary focus will be designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance data quality management tooling that is not only efficient, but also reliable at scale.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Work within Zalando's central Data Management team, responsible for data management services across the entire Zalando group.
Follow Data Mesh principles and collaborate with diverse teams of talented engineers, data scientists, and analysts to grow and drive innovation in data quality systems at large scale, a key component of Zalando's data strategy.
Lead efforts to provide self-service and automated data quality processes, reducing manual intervention and improving overall efficiency.
Closely collaborate with Product Managers in our team to identify potentials to optimise our data quality processes and tools.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team.
Facilitate decision making by writing carefully crafted narrative documents which clearly communicate the rationale in an easily digestible and professional manner.
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
5+ years of professional experience in software design, operational excellence, and analytical problem-solving.
Experienced with the AWS ecosystem, including S3, Redshift, and AWS role and token management.
Experienced in Databricks (PySpark, Python, Workflows), Delta format, REST APIs.
Communication and collaboration: share your knowledge, grow from feedback, communicate with empathy.
You thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and are adept at managing multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously.
