As Team Lead of Business Reporting & Insights, you will develop the team’s talent and strategy. You will play a key role in the Fashion Proposition team as your team will impact how we make investment decisions and how we deliver what our customers love.

To serve our +51m customers, we offer +5,800 brands and millions of articles; the Proposition teams are responsible for selecting and curating this offer. The Fashion Analysis & Insights team helps them make these decisions. For example, these colleagues will come to you to ask which part of the assortment is bringing value to our customers, to our partners and to Zalando. With sophisticated reporting, tools, and insights, you and your team can understand our customers' preferences for our most loved brands and suggest investing. 

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • You are the most important partner for our commercial teams (Merchandising and Buying) because they require reporting and insights to make business decisions on behalf of our customers. Your team is fully responsible for generating those insights and ensuring value can be extracted from them.

  • Lead and develop a team of high-performing commercial and financial managers. Own their engagement and support their continuous growth. You raise the bar higher and ensure all team members generate value and their work is recognized.

  • Your team enables the 3 key processes of the Proposition (Seasonal Planning, Monthly Forecasting and Weekly Trading) by generating insights, preparing data and following the end-to-end process. You excel at transforming business questions into data queries with actionable answers.

  • You democratize data and insights to +500 users by enabling easy-to-use and scalable reporting. Your team is the link between analytics and the business because you understand the commercial needs and -at the same time- you can translate them into data needs.

  • You do not work in silos; you collaborate with cross-functional leaders from analytics, finance and product management to drive innovation. You incorporate data from different sources within and outside Zalando to drive projects. 

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • Proven track record of 7+ years experience in commercial, finance controlling or analytics with 2+ years of experience managing teams in a digital environment. A university degree in Economics, Finance, Quantitative social science, or a comparable subject.

  • Understanding the economics of online platforms and/or online fashion retailers and the commercial KPIs governing their success is a must.

  • Solid understanding of state-of-the-art data visualization and reporting tools, experienced with tools, preferably MicroStrategy. 

  • Effective communication to convince any audience with the insights you and your team generate and compelling storytelling in any form enables decision-making.

  • Enjoy working cross-functionally; you have great stakeholder management skills to work with different levels of management to support, challenge and bring solutions.

  • Hands-on mentality, a person who always finds solutions to challenges. You are proactive, can adapt quickly to changes and always remain focused on our quality objectives.

  • Technical background with SQL skills and programming background (e.g. Python, R, Jupyter Notebooks, Databricks) is a plus.
